Our Eye Doctors & Staff
Dr. Peters graduated from the Illinois College of Optometry in 1994, where he received many awards and honors, including the Contact Lens Excellence Award and the Bausch and Lomb Practice Management Award. He has been practicing optometry for over 20 years. He and his wife, Diane, moved to Bryan in 1996, when he opened Peters Family Eyecare.
Dr. Peters focuses in providing comprehensive eyecare, contact lens evaluations, and the treatment and management of ocular disease. He has received additional training in the diagnosis and treatment of a wide variety of eye diseases, including glaucoma, macular degeneration, and cataracts. In addition, he has made it is his mission to utilize numerous advancements in optical technology which enable him to examine your eye health and vision in the most state-of-the-art manner possible. He is recognized for his commitment to providing the highest level of patient care in the treatment and management of Dry Eye Syndrome.
Dr. Peters has three children, Travis, Drew, and Taylor. He and his wife have been actively involved in the Bryan community and its many organizations over the years, including the United Way of Williams County, Bryan Rotary Club, Bryan Civic League, Bryan Athletic Boosters, and YMCA. Dr. Peters and his family attend New Hope Community Church. In his free time, Dr. Peters loves traveling, boating, water sports, and spending time with family and friends.

Dr. Richards attended school at Indiana University School of Optometry where she graduated as a member of the Beta Sigma Kappa Honor Society in 2020. She completed clinical training at Indianapolis Eye Care Center, Whitewater Eye Centers, Yukon Kuskokwim Health Clinic in Alaska, and the VA hospital of Lexington, KY. Dr. Richards has experience treating a wide variety of eye diseases including diabetes, glaucoma, macular degeneration, cataract co-management, and pediatric exams. She enjoys practicing full-scope optometry and strives to provide individual based care to patients of all ages.
Dr. Richards is originally from Antwerp, Ohio and enjoys the small town community. In her free time, she enjoys exercising, reading, the adventures of training a new puppy, and spending lots of time with friends and family. She is excited to be back in the Buckeye state to serve her community!
Peters Family Eyecare Staff
Our exceptional, friendly staff is our greatest asset. They are excited about what they do and they care personally about getting the best results for our patients. Our receptionists accommodate your busy schedule by finding an appointment that suits your needs.
Trish has worked at Peters Family Eyecare since July 2009. As our fabulous Practice Administrator, she handles a broad range of tasks behind-the-scenes that ultimately ensure an enjoyable patient experience. Outside of work, you will find Trish spending time with her three adult children and son-in-law. She enjoys walking, gardening, baking and reading.
In addition to being one of our Clinical Opticians, Shawna is also our dry eye coordinator. She has been with Peters Family Eyecare since 2017. She is a Tinora High School alum and a graduate of the University of Toledo with a B.A. in Communications. Shawna lives in Defiance with her husband, and is a mother to two daughters and one son. She enjoys spending time at home with her family, shopping, and traveling ‑ there are only six states she hasn’t visited!
Trisha is a graduate of Edon High School and currently lives in Edgerton with her husband Michael, two kids, Hayley and Tanner, and two pups. Trisha enjoys shopping, reading and camping, as well as watching her children participate in sports.
Carrie started her career with Peters Family Eyecare in June 2019. As a Clinical Optician, she is always ready to greet our patients with her infectious smile and warm personality. She is originally from the Toledo area and is married with two teenage boys. Her favorite things to do are watch her children play sports, travel, and golf.
Cassandra joined Peter’s Family Eyecare March of 2024 as a technician. She attended
Hillsdale College in MI, earning a Bachelor’s degree in Fine Art. She still loves art (especially painting), road trips, coffee houses, concerts, and walks. Spending time with family and friends are her favorite pastimes.
Erin joined our staff in August of 2015. She is our Billing and Insurance Coordinator. She is from the Bryan area, and spends most of her free time with her husband and dog! Erin loves photography, riding motorcycles with her husband, and spending time with her family and friends.
Heather joined our team in 2019 and is our Insurance Coordinator. She is originally from Milwaukee, WI, but now resides in West Unity with her husband. She graduated from MATC with a degree in Surgical Technology specializing in Ophthalmology Surgery. She and her husband enjoy spending time with their children and eight grandchildren.
Melissa joined our team in October of 2020, bringing with her eight years of experience in the eyecare field. She lives in Montpelier with her two children and in her free time she enjoys mini vacations, shopping and reading. But most of all spending time with her kiddos!
Andrea joined Peters Family Eyecare in 2022. She is a Bryan High School alum and lives in Bryan with her husband and two daughters. In her free times she enjoys traveling, camping, reading and watching her girls dance in ballet and jazz. She and her family stay active in the community and love the small town of Bryan, along with their church community at New Hope.
Lauren joined the Peters Family Eyecare team in October 2023 and is graduate of Bryan High School. Some of her favorite things include golden retrievers, the color yellow and sunshine. Aside from work, Lauren is most likely working out, spending time with friends and family or shopping.
Gracy grew up and is currently from the Pioneer, Ohio area. She loves spending time with her husband and their friends and family. Her hobbies include trying out and cooking new foods and recipes, playing the piano, and anything outdoor related! She lives a very busy and colorful life, but enjoys slowing down and making time for the ones she loves, and credits God for all of her blessings.
